CBC Business Advocacy

The Covington Business Council focuses its resources on making Covington a better place in which to do business. As such, our business advocacy efforts are the driving force behind our organization. Through the work of countless volunteers, the CBC continues to facilitated the redevelopment of our central business district and the city as a whole.

Accomplishments:
• Initiated a successful grass roots campaign to influence legislators to exclude Kenton County from House Bill 314, preventing additional taxation from being levied on Covington businesses.
• Created a Central Covington Development Plan, Covington's first downtown plan.
• Advocated for the construction of Covington's City Parking Garage.
• Created the Vision Task Force and developed a Vision for downtown.
• Implemented a Direct Mail Campaign to support the construction of the Northern Kentucky Convention Center downtown.
• Established a Prostitution Solution Task Force.
• Completed the first Twelfth Street Study.
• Created a development plan surrounding the Convention Center, now know as Southbank.
• Continue to lobby for the reduction of the city's payroll tax.
• Recommended changes to the zoning code in order to prohibit a Methadone Clinic from locating in downtown Covington.
• Fostered several letter-writing campaigns promoting Twelfth Street improvements.
• Awarded $10,000 to Southbank Partners to improve the Fifth Street Exit Ramp.
• Partnered with the City of Covington to complete the Renaissance Kentucky Application for downtown improvements.
• Opposed county payroll tax hike.
• Partnered with the Friends of Covington and Covington Community Center to conduct several community forums including: lightrail, candidate debates and the City's independent review report.
