The Covington Business Council is very proud of the dedication, leadership and support from our board of directors. Throughout the year, we will publish Q&A interviews with our board members in a series titled, "Getting to Know..."
My first interview is with Roger Peterman, the CBC Board Chair.
Question: Roger, tell me about your hometown and childhood.
Answer: I grew up in Michigan. Most of my childhood was spent in Romulus, but I graduated from high school in Southfield. I attended college at the University of Kentucky on a football scholarship. After graduating from UK College of Law, I decided to stay in Kentucky and I’ve never left!
Question: You are a successful Partner at Dinsmore & Shohl LLP in Covington. How did you decide on a career in public finance law?
Answer: I’ve always been interested in government. After law school, I was the Executive Director for KEDFA, Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority. I then worked for Peck Shaffer & Williams LLP, a public finance practice, which later merged into Dinsmore & Shohl.
Question: What's the best advice you're been given?
Answer: Ironically, actor Rob Reiner provided some very good advice.
#1 Know when it’s over. #2 Be thinking about what’s next.
Question: You are very active in the NKY community and have served on numerous boards. What excites you most about the CBC?
Answer: Covington is where it’s happening and it’s great to be right in the middle of it! The local businesses are engaged and excited to make Covington THE PLACE to be.
Question: What books, movies, television shows have you read/watched in the past week?
Answer: Most recently, I read a few Curious George and Berenstain Bear books to my grandchildren. Other than children’s books, I read Relationship 101: What Every Leader Need to know by John C. Maxwell.
Question: Tell us something about you that few people know.
Answer: I am happily married my high school sweetheart.
Question: What is next on your "to do list"?
Answer: I’d like to visit Italy because of its rich history, beautiful landscape and diverse cities.
