The greatest opportunity for development in Northern Kentucky resides along the riverfront adjoining Covington, Newport and the other River Cities communities. Those are the thoughts of Jeanne, Schroer, founder of the Catalytic Development Funding Corp, charged with financing pivotal projects along the River. Schroer’s comments came December 10th during the NKY Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Eggs and Issues breakfast program.
Schroer was joined by Corporex Managing Director Tom Banta and Southbank Partners President Jack Moreland. Banta is overseeing the massive $1 billion Ovations concert and mixed use development in Newport while Moreland shepherds the ambitious Riverfront Commons trail, covering 11.5 miles of riverfront from Covington to Dayton.
Schroer says all these projects will lure more people to live along the river, enhancing Northern Kentucky’s lagging workforce needs and will spur further development beyond the nearby Internal Revenue Service redevelopment.
Moreland added that it’s critical to supply adequate restaurants and attractions to go along with the new businesses and residents. Schroer speculated that such growth will also help reverse the decline in corporate headquarters locating in the region.
