BLINK is back and this year it will be bigger, brighter and larger, lighting up both Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. At the CBC Luncheon on September 19, Brendon Cull, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, (pictured above) provided the first public viewing of what to expect from BLINK to a packed crowd at The Madison Event Center.
BLINK is a four-day event, returning October 10 – 13, 2019 and is one of the largest lights, art and projection mapping event in the nation! It is free and open to the public, although VIP packages are available. It will kick off with a parade on Thursday, just after sundown.
Spanning more than 30 city blocks, BLINK will begin in the Findlay Market area and continue south to OTR, Downtown, The Banks, across the historic Roebling Suspension and continue into Covington. In other words, added Cull, “from Rhinegeist to Braxton”. Featuring 35+ projection mappings and lighted displays, BLINK will nearly double the number from 2017. When visiting, Cull stated “Don’t Blink and drive”. Use transportation such as the Cincinnati Bell Connector, Metro, TANK, Cincy Red Bike or OggO. Many roads will be closed to allow for the anticipated huge crowd.
A few anticipated displays will be located at Washington Park, Contemporary Arts Center, The Banks, Suspension Bridge, Hannaford, and the Kenton County Parking garage. A free concert by Grouplove takes place on Saturday in Covington at RiverCenter. There will also be the world largest mobile disco ball, sponsored by the Covington Business Council and an 80-foot rainbow at The Banks.
Other guest speakers at the CBC Luncheon include Tom West, Economic Development Director for the City of Covington; Bob Wilson, Executive Director of DCCH Center for Children and Families Services; and Linda Antis, President and CEO of Cincinnati Regional Tourism Network.
